Brian J. Honan Apartments

Overview

The Brian J. Honan Apartments consist of two parcels totaling 74,500 SF. The site formerly housed concrete and brick warehouses used by the Legal Sea Foods company as a processing facility. The development concept calls for nine townhouse-style buildings containing 11 one-bedroom units, 29 two-bedroom units, and 10 three-bedroom units for households earning below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Environmental Aspects

The project was designed to use an innovative cogeneration, system, also known as combined heat and power(CHP), running on biodiesel instead of traditional petroleum-based diesel. Biodiesel is a lower-carbon fuel than petroleum diesel. The complex also has a high-efficiency boiler system.
