Woburn Memorial High School

Overview

Woburn Memorial High School is a new building on the site of the old high school. The old building was demolished and removed after the new one was completed and ready for occupancy.

The new school is approximately 340,000 square feet, varies from two to four levels and sits on a forty-one acre site with athletic fields. In addition to its core function as a school, the building is designed to be used throughout the year for a variety of community activities and functions.

Environmental Aspects

The new high school has 340,000 ft2 of floor space but its footprint is only 127,000 ft2. This compact design preserves open space on the site.

The school incorporates a 33.6 kW solar system on the roof.

Two 50,000-gallon underground tanks store water from the roof rainwater collection system for sewage conveyance and irrigation.

Owner & Occupancy

Enrollment in 2006-07 was 1,413 students, with a staff of about 140.

Typical operating hours are from 7am to 3pm, except when night school is in session. On these evenings the school is open until 11pm.
